Animal Welfare Policy

Our policy

All brands of Claes Retail Group care about animals and about their welfare. Therefore we ask from our suppliers to act by the internationally accepted Five Freedoms for animal welfare:
- Freedom from Hunger and Thirst - by ready access to fresh water and a diet to maintain full health and vigour. - Freedom from Discomfort - by providing an appropriate environment including shelter and a comfortable resting area. 
- Freedom from Pain, Injury or Disease - by prevention or rapid diagnosis and treatment. 
- Freedom to Express Normal Behaviour - by providing sufficient space, proper facilities and company of the animal's own kind. 
- Freedom from Fear and Distress - by ensuring conditions and treatment which avoid mental suffering.

We require only raw materials that come from animals reared for meat production and under no circumstances do we accept any material from exotic, threatened or endangered species as defined by CITES(the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) or IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature)and the IUCN red list. 

At CRG we do not accept : 
- Angora wool
- Down & feathers from live plucked animals
- Real fur of any type in our products
- Leather that is not a by-product from animals that have been bred for the food industry
- Feather or down from birds that have not been bred and raised for the food industry
- Feather or down from birds that have been live-plucked
- Wool from sheep that have been exposed to mulesing
- Materials derived from species that appear on the CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) or IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) lists of endangered species. 

In addition, we offer our customers the choice to select recycled and non-animal based alternatives. All the virgin down used in our products are sourced from sources certified to the Responsible Down Standard (RDS). Alternatively certified recycled down can be used. 

ANIMAL TESTING 

At CRG, we stand strong against animal testing. We require that our suppliers are not involved in any animal testing of cosmetic products and ingredients, or purchase ingredients or products from suppliers, who have been involved in such practices. 

CRG FUR-FREE 

The brands of the CRG are fur free.

So it is only natural that we have signed in the Fur Free Retailer program, giving confidence to our customers that. Run in over 25 countries the Fur Free Retailer program is an international initiative of the Fur Free Alliance, a coalition of more than 50 leading animal and environmental protection organizations worldwide, representing millions of supporters around the world.This gives our customer the confidence CRG is a company where none of the brands sells real fur.
